Stop the ABC Threat To Your Career

For more than 100 years, Registered Apprenticeship programs has existed and worked for construction workers in New York. During this time, the Building Trades Unions have devoted substantial money, time, and other resources to training the most highly skilled construction workforce available.

Like any successful program, there are some who look to mimic our efforts with cheap  knock-offs intended only to give low-road contractors a cheap competitive advantage, at the cost of poor training and substandard retention and graduation rates that undercut the high standards set by the success of Union apprenticeships.

These substandard programs, under the guidance of the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC),  seek approval for what appears to be a substandard umbrella program for 11 trades. For those 11 trades, they propose 4 training facilities, some of which are nothing more than store fronts.
