Local 46 is eligible for the revamped Health Screening Research Program for Building Trades members with 20 years or more service with SMART. The purpose of this research program is to collect data from SMART members that can be used toward the prevention of asbestos complications, secondary to exposure at the workplace, as well as further asbestos studies. HELP UP KEEP COSTS DOWN! Sign up for automatic dues payment online. Register for the website and have your dues paid every 3 months, 6 months, annually or monthly. It is quick & painless!

NEXT UNION MEETING: The next meeting is Thursday, September 17, 2026 starting at 5:00 pm. Please make every effort to join us and become involved in what is going on in YOUR Union! No meetings will be held in July or August 2026. 

SMART Local 46 Retirees Meeting: There is no August meeting; the next retiree’s club meeting is Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at 10:30 am at the Union hall. Stop in, have a donut and catch up with your old friends!

COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS: Every year the Sheet Metal Workers’ Scholarship Fund awards 34 scholarships in the amount of $6,000 per year for up to four years for full-time undergraduate study at any accredited college or university; 20 one-year $4,000 scholarships for undergraduate study at any accredited college or university. Eligibility requires that an applicant be an active member or a dependent spouse or child under the age of 25 of a member. If you are interested in learning more and/or applying you must first submit an “Application Request Form” to the foundation. All information and the required forms can be obtained at smart-union.org/sheet-metal-scholarship-fund. You must do this between the dates of September 1st and February 15th so please do not delay!

The Sheet Metal Workers’ Scholarship Fund awards 34 scholarships in the amount of $6,000 per year for up to four years for full-time undergraduate study at any accredited college or university, including two scholarships which may be awarded to Mechanical Engineering and Architecture student for a total of $54,000 over five years! The Sheet Metal Workers’ Scholarship Foundation awards 20 one-year $4,000 scholarships and the Joseph J. Nigro and Joey Nigro, Jr. Memorial one-year $5,000 scholarships for undergraduate study at any accredited college or university.

Eligibility requires that an applicant be an active member, a covered employee or a dependent spouse or child under the age of 25 of a member or covered employee. The applicant must also be a full-time student or be accepted to be a full-time student at an accredited college or university.
